My new Lifan LYCAN 250

I purchased this motorcycle online in late spring right after my car was stolen(Yeah it happened:shrug:…). Overall, the bike is decently made, performs well and looks great, totally worth it. I have to say, do not be influenced by those that say “Chinese bikes are junk” but take care of this cycle as you would a quality brand name bike like the Honda rebel or the Yamaha V star. In my case, I mainly riding the bike for commuting purpose back and forth on CA-60, which normally takes about 60 plus miles every workday, and last week the bike just hit 1200 miles with an in general pretty decent performance.

Well, yes it’s a 250cc so don’t expect too much to go extremely aggressive, sometimes it can be a bit scary keeping up the flow of traffic with this type of size engine. It can, however, still easily get up to 80mph on highway and also it’s very comfortable to ride. In conclusion, it's a solid bike (for being Chinese) with very decent quality and I haven't had any issues with bolts coming loose, brakes locking up, rattling of any kind. Over all I got my money's worth out of this one, I think I will have this motorcycle for many years to come:tup:!

You are the first one to report owning one! I am sure you will have years of ownership as it seems that Lifan is invested in the US market. American Lifan is a subsidiary of Lifan in China, so you will have the stability of that relationship vs. an independent distributor/importer.

Actually, from time to time, there are 10+ year old Lifan cruisers that pop up on Craigslist, and your engine is based on the Yamaha Virago, so you have that going for you on top of Lifan consciously building in quality. Not to mention, your bike has a rear disc brake combined with fuel-injection, meaning you have more features than the Virago. JerryHawk 250 will be very interested in your bike...

Congrats on the new bike. I've been looking at that bike hard. I really like that bike. Reminds me of my old Yamaha Route 66. Thanks for posting. I'll be interested in what mods you will be planning for it.

Congratulations! I've got the same version of that Lifan fuel-injected motor in my SSR/Italjet Buccaneer, and predict you'll be very happy with it. I'll be interested in your future reports.

CA-60, like California? That's road legal here?

That is down this way, and yes, the Lycan is CARB certified.

Yes it does. :) I wonder what it will take to get American Lifan to send me one to test and review? :D I want this one. :yay:

I just saw the youtube video on it. Looks pretty sweet. The first thing I would do is change that exhaust lol.

I have to admit, the top pipe looks like someone bolted it on upside down.

Yeah, I'm used to seeing the muffler exit points at the same angle. I wonder if it can be rotated.

Nothing a hacksaw and a welder couldn't fix. I would probably replace it with a good after market free flowing exhaust system for the V star 250's.
