Tao Tao bull200
Anyone own a new bull 200? I’m seriously considering buying one for myself to ride with my kids. Not sure if I want the bull or the rhino

I suppose the main difference is the Bull uses a 170cc scooter type engine while the Rino uses the 200cc motorcycle type engine. Aluminum wheels on the Bull look nice.

Yeah the new TaoTao's are looking nice ... can see myself getting a set of those aluminum rims.

I have 2 coolster 3150 dx2s already but really thinking about adding one of these. Looks like they really stepped it up. Their are a few videos up on YouTube already.

I like all the new features on the Bull 200 including the extra HP of the 169cc engine. The only con I could find would be that there is no kick start on the 169cc. No way to start it if the battery craps out on the trails unless you have jumper cables or pull the battery off another ATV. I had battery issues last year out on the trails and the kick start came in handy.

I wish I could figure out a way to put a kickstart on my Rhino... cant find the mechanicals and covers to do it... figured it was the same as a dirt bike engine and could just make a custom kick lever.
I carry one of those LiPo jump start packs with me.. but wont do squat if the starter ever dies. |

'What I know' is the knowledge and experience of members here with Rhinos and those members in general with 200/223/229/etc. vertical thumpers vs. those with the horizontal ATVs. But, there will be those who chime in having few to no issues with scooter-style GY6 engines, so wait for those opinions, too. My guess is you cannot go necessarily 'wrong' with either. |

I know you're comparing the Bull 200 to the Rhino but thought I'd post the 150 to 200 comparison because it shows much has changed and that it seems much of the Bull 150 hardware is also on the Rhino. Seems they really have improved things.

It looks like, at least for now, that the Bull is around $200 more expensive with some great and interesting new features. What someone is going to use their ATV for will be the determining factor if these new additions are worth it. Do you need a speedometer? Gear indicator? Hours meter? Maybe. The hours meter is useful in determining when to change the oil. The disk brakes all around contribute to safety as the Rhino front brakes are shoe and not, well, good. Do you need the bling, and weight savings, of the alloy wheels? Will you need the headlights? The lighting looks like it's better but that can be solved by adding aux. lighting as many of us have done. I guess if I was in the market again, I would probably choose the Bull. I don't use it daily and, sometimes, not even weekly. Darth and 2LZ use their Rhinos as work horses and a Bull might not measure up with it's smaller motor. But I'm sure both would agree that the hours meter and disk brakes would an asset on the Rhino that the owners of (myself included) would love to have.

Hey guys thanks for the responses, I would love to hear more! I like the features of the new Bull 200 vs the Rhino 250, especially for the difference in price. I don't think I will be using it every day, just now and then, and I would most likely ride trails/hills and such. I was concerned about the Bull cooling fan intake; seems like you would suck in water/mud if you did any water crossings. Maybe that's not an issue. My wife and kids might be better suited for the CVT type transmission in the Bull vs the manual in the Rhino. If I just bought them both I would be happy, but the wife.......well you know how that would go. Any body else have any input, I am still weighing the differences.

Yeah my Rhino is usually ridden hard and put away wet and muddy.
If I was to get a Bull I would probably mess with the sprockets/pulleys/springs for more low end torque. I hear the 150cc engines (GY6) have a decent amount of pull... so the 170cc is probably a little better. Would probably add a Magoonie carb to the Bull as well while I'm at it for some more pep. You can add a aftermarket hour meter for 10$ they usually also have a tach in the same unit. The gear indicator is a nice option to have. The brakes on the Rhino work fine for me even with the heavy load in tow.... I can stop on a steep incline. Really though I see the Bull and just want a set of rims for the Rhino ... LOL if you get it will trade you some black steel rims from the Rhino. |
