Sorry about the mess in the garage, but hey, I just got done working on my brother's truck.
Here's my Bike. It was branded a "Baja Phoenix 250" at Pep Boys, and I was looking for a small bike, so I paid 1100USD for it. Turns out it's a Huanan FY250 with "Baja" stickers.

I do kinda like the dual exhaust on the side. Makes her look a little beefier than she really is.

I've only put about 400 miles on it so far, but it seems to be a fairly reliable little bike. Hasn't broken down yet.

Welcome to the forum. That is a sharp looking little bike. Great for crusing around town.

Looks like a nice bike. How is it size wise? Is it on the small side or a full-sized road bike? How does it do on the highway?

It's a full-sized bike, although the engine is a bit on the small side for its size. I've been considering putting in a larger engine if it's possible. The bike in the background is my father's '04 Harley Road King, and it's not all that much smaller.

As for highway performance, well... it depends on the highway. Out here in Texas, a lot of the highways are still 55mph. It does fine on those, but tops out around 67-ish, so the interstate's out of the question. I tried once, but I'm not doing that again. Also, we get a lot of strong wind out here, and at highway speeds on a bike that only weighs 337lbs (153kg), it gets pushed around a lot. Scary.

Although the bike is branded a "Baja", it was really manufactured by Guangzhou Panyu Huanan Motors, and is listed as the "FY250" on their painfully-difficult-to-navigate-and-half-404'd-and-unfinished English-language website. A little research turns up that they're ISO certified (What that means for quality, I'm not sure. Anyone know?), and have been around since the 60's, so I feel a little bit more confident about owning one of their bikes.

I've been really pleased with the build quality, although I feel like going up to Pep Boys every once in a while and slapping them around a bit. The service they performed before I could take it home apparently didn't include tightening anything, checking any fluids, checking the functionality of the the clutch or lights, or checking the drive chain. I do not believe that there is a bolt on that bike that wasn't loose when I got home, the brake light didn't work, it didn't have enough oil in it, and the clutch lever wasn't aligned correctly.

Nothing was broken on the bike. The worst thing was the brake light, which came on with the hand brake but not the foot brake. It was just a disconnected cable (probably came loose during shipping and Pep Boys didn't think to check it), though. Nothing was broken, and once I got everything tightened down correctly and the oil changed, it ran beautifully.

Even though I've only put about 400 miles on it so far, it's been very reliable and I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a cheap bike to go around town on, if you can find one. Just make sure you carefully inspect everything on it because Pep Boys sure doesn't know what the hell they're doing.

On a side note, it's getting pretty good gas mileage (between 60-80mpg (25-35 kpL), depending on weather and where and how I ride it), and my insurance is very cheap at about $25 per month through State Farm.

Baja has a web site, and is headquartered here in Arizona, although I rarely see their bikes in the Pep Boys in Yuma.

I've seen their website, but as far as I can tell, they don't manufacture them. Except for one plastic sticker, everything on the bike and paperwork says "Manufactured by Guangzhou Panyu Huanan Co, Ltd". Kinda like the difference between a Chevy LUV and an Isuzu KB, I suppose.

The easiest way is too use a hosting site like www.allyoucanupload.com or you can sign up for a gallery account and then follow the steps in the FAQ section. Look at the top of the screen for the Gallery Link. Frostbite needs to OK an account so it may take a few days.

Couple questions though....1 what kind of performance do you get on it....( meaning will it do hiway speeds 60-65 mph easily and 2 i weigh in at around 230 lbs would it haul my fat behind around ?

I've been thinking about getting one of these and have had no luck in convincing my wife to let me get one, because she Googled "Baja Motorsports" and found nothing but complaints.

Is it still running nice? How many miles does it have now?

It also appears to be very similar to the Qlink Legend 250, which is significantly more expensive but comes with an excellent warranty and a decent dealer network. The Legend has the exact same specs, looks identical, and even has the very same gear position indicator and fuel gauge.

Ive seen those "Phoenixes" at PepBoys... pretty cool. I purchased 2 "Baja" 70cc bikes from PepBoys and those are actually Hemsim bikes (good little bikes so far - pretty rugged).

Did you buy it new? The reason I asked is, I wanted a Qlink Legend 250. I got a "bait and switch" scam from a dealer who turned out not to be a Qlink dealer despite they advertise they are. For $2700 I got your exact bike with the exact Huanan MCO and the VIN number confirms this. LE8, the first 3 digits indicates it came from Guangzhou Huanan Motors Industry Co. A rider who owns a genuine warrantied Qlink Legend says his VIN starts with LE8 as well. I'd say for $1100 you got lucky, if you got it new. I am currently disputing my purchase with the dealer since I got it in late Aug, and after 80 miles it leaks oil. If it leaks oil after 80 miles, what else might leak or get me killed later on?? The brakes? The clutch? I'm thinking you made the best deal. An "unbadged Qlink Legend" for $1100.........The 10th digit in my VIN is 7, which means it was made in '07. What year is yours?
