Hawk Tire Issue
 
So on my hawk 250, i have gone through 5 inner tubes on the rear tire. the fist couple tubes the local shop blamed on loose spokes, then the 3rd one was for a screw, the last 2 the spokes were loose again, but the shop blamed the tire spinning on the rim, and bunching the inner tube. I usually run 38-30 PSI
Anyone else have this issue?

I thought I was bad with tubes. Lol. Got mine in sept. and on my 3rd tube. 1st one I was messing around power braking and yeah I spun the valve right off. 2nd tube I accidentally spun the valve off again due too low tire pressure and me trying to wheelie and fast start.

The shop that I have do my maintenance said it would be about $100 to install a "rim Lock?" this would prevent this tire spinning. Im waiting untill I replace the tires to do that though

Get a new shop .The rim lock is a few dollars to buy ( $5-$20) ,and requires a hole being drilled through the rim for the lock ,would not add 5 minutes to just doing a tire including taking care of any sharp leftovers from the drill job .I guess there are other types of rim locks nowadays ,but you bought a basic bike no need for anything other than what has worked for 100 years .

Yep, I just put a TuBliss on today. I think I figured out what caused my original tube to shear the valve stem off, I found a puncture in the tire. So it probably punctured the tube which caused low tire pressure allowing the rim to shear it off.

Can't wait to ride it up the tough trails I go on at 2 to 4 psi.

jeez, running at 2-4 and wondering why you have tube problems? guys, even trials riders run more psi than that!

and second the get new dealer/shop advice. that guys a crook, plain and simple UNLESS he's talking pulling both tires/ new tubes/ bead locks and balancing :(

In the bad old days, we drilled four holes on both sides of the rim, and used sheet metal screws just long enough to end up in the bead wire of the tube. :p The bead wire is actually a cable.

The shop explained that it would be $110 if i did the rim lock only. But if I did a tire change, they would do it then and be much less.

The TuBliss, is similar to the mousse. but both are for off road. I do 80% on road 20% off road. If there was a flat proof tire for on road use for motorcycles. Similar to these
I would buy them in a heart beat

hey you clay/mud type guys out there, could you imagine running those for longer than 2 or three minutes? LOL, you'd soon not only look like a tank, you'd weigh about the same too!
I wonder what those are for?

They have them on polaris quads ,I have seen a few sets for sale ,so they must be awesome !you are right ,when they get full of slop ,your bike would weigh a ton ,when I ride my mx bikes in the snow ,it sure feels like they double in weight when the wheels get full of snow .

Nothing says you can't TuBliss on road, I know I will when I replace the tires.

I didn't say I'll be running that low of pressure on a stock tube. Look up tubliss.com

Yes, so? All that means is they don't want to spend the money for DOT certification.
