One of the comments made is that it was likely engineered to meet a specific test. I wonder if that could have a negative by-product in the real world.

It still needs to be proven. The car may pass all the safety tests, but will it last 200K miles without major repairs.

Maybe if it was made by Zongshen.

My grin about this is that we've been reading about this Qoros brand for at least a year and it's always been "will be this; will have that;etc." But nothing real yet. I still suspect it's some kind of stock-market hoax or something...

This is the first I have read of it. The price seems high to me. Too many other proven vehicles that can be purchased for not much more.

Over the years I was always concerned with safety of the family. Mrs. O drove a 3/4 ton Dodge van conversion and then a Chevy Starcraft 2500. We bought a 99 Grand Cherokee Quadra-drive Larado . The Jeep has been rear ended 3 times by imports all of which were totaled. 200,000 miles later, it's still driving her all over God's green acre.

I had a Grand Cherokee that I sold to a neighbor. He was stopped at light on 316 near Athens and was rear ended by a civic going 70mph. Drove the jeep home. The trailer hitch that I had installed and welded a 2x2 3/8 thick angle too took the full brunt of the hit.

No other visible damage to the jeep. The civic engine was pushed up to the firewall.

My neighbor suffered neck injuries, but is still driving that jeep. It also survived a small tractor rolling down a hill into the front bumper.

Well, they make them with crash zones these days, so it's normal to have the front end smashed. Especially when rear-ending someone.
