Rhino 250 winter Mods.

What’s up guys, Bought a used Tao Tao Rhino 250 last year and it has mostly sat in the garage with the occasional ride around the neighborhood with the kids. Anyways, being that I live in a non incorporated area and we basically are left to fend off for ourselves come winter with plowing our own streets as a community collaboration, I have decided to upgrade some things on the ATV and make it a nice little winter rig. So far I have added a winch set up, gave it a paint job, upgraded lights to LED, added rock lights underneath. Sitting in the garage I have yet to install:
11 tooth front sprocket
41 tooth rear sprocket
New Chain
Nibbi PE30 Carburetor and re jet it
Plow mount kit and Plow.
Here are some pictures of how it sits of today and will add more pictures when I get to install the rest of my set up.

Up next is the Nibbi PE30 upgraded Carb. Changed out the jets for a 30 pilot/ 115 main. All I can say is WOW! With the sprocket combination, new chain and carb it makes this thing one hell of a beast. Really opens it up and rips!!!!

You should have no problem with pushing the snow plow with those gears.

I can’t wait. I’ll be installing the plow this weekend so I’ll be updating with pictures on how that goes!

Curious about the rear sprocket. Some here were concerned that a 40T or larger would make the chain hit the lower guard assuming that the stock 530 chain was used. Any issues? Where did you get the sprocket? It looks like one from Why Go Stock.

I like the gray (grey?) color btw.

I plowed with my Rhino last year and had a lot of fun. I have 11T/39T combination. I ended up putting chains on after the weather went through a snow/thaw/snow cycle.

I added an oil cooler for this year as my engine got pretty hot running around in low gear for so long.

Thanks! It’s Chalk grey, it’s a Porsche color. I am an automotive painter/ body man and we had a little paint left over from a Porsche we fixed and used it up to paint the Rhino lol. I did have to get rid of the chain guard because it did rub a bit. I got all sprockets from Why go stock, chain is off of Amazon, it is a 530.

How did you set up your oil cooler? That’s interesting….

Most of us on here use this oil cooler. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WJ2ZZ8G...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Thanks for the replies. The cooler Jerry posted is the one I bought. I got it last February and it cost a lot cheaper then. I tried to mount it low, in front but the lines were too short. I ended up mounting it up high and cutting into the "box" under the black cover. Maybe I can get a picture. In reality, it's not going to get a lot of air flow during plowing no matter where it's mounted. We haven't gotten enough snow here yet to try it out. I wanted to add it as I noticed how hot the engine was getting plowing at low speeds. I also noticed how quickly the oil was getting dirty. I'm hoping the cooler helps in both situations. I can also install a fan if needed.

Yeah, I think a fan would need to be added since you're not going to be going fast enough to create any wind effect. Although you will be plowing snow in cold temperatures so that will cool the oil going through the cooler

Couldn’t figure out how to post a Video on here so I uploaded them to YouTube and the links are below…. Just a quick walk around and simple lift and release of the plow. All in all a very easy and straightforward installation process. For anyone looking to get a decent plow with a universal mount that works on the rhino I 100% recommend the kolpin switchblade plow. It will save you a headache and the trouble welding a plate to mount as it comes with a U bolt style universal mounting plate that didn’t take long to configure and set up properly on the frame of the ATV. I will be adding videos as winter progresses with the cons and pros of the set up and all that good stuff. Have yet to get some good chains for the tires but the hard part is done and over with.
