You're welcome. :) Even if the CDI unit is not causing your current problem, you are wise to have a spare. Among other things, a spare CDI unit greatly facilitates troubleshooting the electrical system. Also, it's only a matter of time before the original CDI unit fails. I am currently using the fifth CDI unit on my Zongshen 200GY-2. The harsh vibration from off road riding accelerates the death of the Chinese CDI units, so I average about 12,000 miles of riding before I need to replace one. ;)

i hope it is the cdi unit cause im running out of patience with this bike real fast lol

The Chinese motorcycles certainly have far less support than Japanese bikes. ;) If the CDI unit is not the problem, we can certainly help you diagnose the source of your trouble. The problem might not even be electrical. However, it's always good to have at least one, spare, Chinese, CDI unit. ;)

Did you order an AC, or DC, CDI unit? Do you have a wiring diagram for you bike?

i have no idea which one i bought.. just went to the link and then bought lol

hopefully i got the right one as when i used the other site to get it for me i didnt see any option for ac or dc.. not even sure which one i have lol.. all i have is a code number on my old one

I think I once saw a wiring diagram for your bike, and it utilized a DC-CDI unit. However, my memory might be incorrect. ;) Did you employ an agent at TBTrends? If so, he might ask you whether you want an AC, or DC unit. ;)

This diagram indicated the ZS250GS employs a DC-CDI unit. My Zongshen 200GY-2 employs an AC-CDI unit, so this is another difference between the two motorcycles. ;) I wouldn't be surprised if the CDI unit you ordered is only available in the DC version.

It's very possible your problems are caused by another electrical component, or are not even electrical in nature. However, if the CDI unit doesn't solve your problems, we can certainly help you to methodically find a solution. In any event, you were still wise to purchase another CDI unit. ;)

what a mess it was all hacked up electrically and i thing mine is 12Vac as when i test most of the curcuts i get a -12V flashing to 0V and back to 12V i went to a local dealer in my area who claims to have the cdi box but i have to wait a week for delivery but yea no spark at all on this junker but my coil checks out and so does the spark plug on my lawn mower.....

Thought i would charge my battery as the cdi unity is on its way

turned the kick and bam bike started first go... really lost as to wether is cdi unit has fully failed yet or something else is causing it to shut off once hot

just need a new chain to be able to take it for a short ride

Don't ride far from home. CDI boxes are known to start acting up after they get hot. Sometimes you will just get rough running, sometimes they totally shut down and then you can let it cool off and it will run again.

I suggest you listen to Kato. ;) CDI units are notorious for intermittent failures, especially when hot. If you keep riding the bike, a failing CDI unit will eventually die altogether, frequently stranding you in the worst possible place. :( Replace the CDI unit with a new one, and see if the problems disappear. ;) If the problems continue, you need to fix something else. If the problems disappear, get another CDI unit. Having a spare greatly facilitates troubleshooting the electrical system, and allows you to ride instead of waiting for a spare to arrive. ;)

Well now im really pissed off.. got my cdi unit in the mail, plugged it in and turned the ignition on to start the bike

all of a sudden i could smell a burning smell, looked down at the cdi unit and all the wiring was melting, when i touched it it was hot

so now i have a cdi unit i cant use and some wiring to fix
