Ordered a TBR7 Yesterday

Well, after a year of closing my browser after almost clicking Pay, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a 2020 TBR7 from Q9. I’m sure it’s a 229cc, but curious why the website said 250? Probably just an honest mistake. They’ve been very pleasant so far! Made the order, then verified my ID. I had it shipped to my brothers address but I made sure they knew my name and address, I’m hoping all the paperwork comes in right. I will be registering it in NC. I went ahead and bought a carb from a seller on eBay that was very helpful and already installed the 110 jet for me! Super excited to be a part of this forum!!

Most bikes label that way my 1993 honda st1100 is technically not 1100ccs but somewhere around 1000ccs

if i remember correctly they would do that for insurance reasons.... market an 1100 and sell a 1000cc would be under whater cc rating.....at least thats what i heard.....don't they do that on nearly every bike?

i have one lots of fun but grab a tool set... a $1300 dual sport costs a little more in "sweat equity"

Most of these are all labeled as a 250 but are 229cc. I have 2 different 250 Yamahas that are 249cc, and a 1300 Honda that is actually 1312cc.

Most engines are rarely ever marketed at their actual displacement. Many 250's are very close though, usually within 10cc. Honda being the most honest with the CRF230 (223cc) and CRF250 (249cc) in the small engine market.

It is entirely a marketing gimmick too, and an effective one. Take my VFR, which if they went by the honest CC would be a VFR1237. It doesn't quite flow from the tongue as 1200.

In the case of the Chinese bikes, it is also likely to make the bikes sound more impressive. Hawk 250 and Brozz 250 sounds better than Hawk 230 or Brozz 230, even if the latter names are more accurate.

The bike is here! Finally assembled too. I ordered the mikuni carb with a 110 jet pre installed from an eBay seller, and at first, there was a piece of metal like a clip holding the throttle body wide open. Idled VERY high for the first run and pipe glowed it was so hot. Then, fixed the clip holding open the throttle body, and realized the only way to change the idle with that specific carb was with the throttle cable. Still idiling too high, removed the nut on the cable which allowed it to slide further back for a perfect idle now. Still has to be on half choke, hoping that resolves itself. Need to loosen chain as well, having an issue with neutral and 1st, but I understand it’s new and needs to break in. Super excited with the bike. Couldn’t be more thrilled. You guys rock!
