Jetmoto vs Viva rear suspension

Just wondering if the Viva has this type of linkage or are using a different system.

This one is on the newest Jetmoto made by Kaier, not the older model made by Shineray.

Felt like a hardtail until it got about 100k on it then the shock loosened up and it now has around 6-7 inches of travel, just guessing, have'nt
actually tried measuring it yet.

Hey, that looks familiar! I think that's pretty similar to the Viva's...Akonababe or msRandi said they'd loosen up with time. I've been comparing my bike's setup to my boyfriend's KLR650. The KLR seems more mobile, but basically the same concept with longer cradle 'arms' & links.

Sometimes looks can be deceiving.

No way you are getting 6 - 7 inches of travel out of that linkage. It's the same as the Viva, Hi-Bird, Roketa, etc. If you measure you'll see you only have about 3 inches then the scissor is fully extended and there is no more suspension except for what the linkage will flex. Been there, RE-done that. Read here:

That "dog-bone" looks bent to me.

Definitely read Red's linkage mod thread!

This is what I'll be using to replace the stock shock and linkage on my new Viva. The mount on my swingarm has been cut off already. I'll be making one or two new front links that run back to the XR200 link. Need the parts in hand to see what will be the best.

I'm looking forward to gettin' after it. Hopefully, it will go together quickly. Stay tuned!

Sam, is your linkage the exact same as on the Jetmoto.

SamM 04-24-2007 10:18 PM

Almost! It was very similar. However, my shock was resting on the rear mounted dog bone! Basically, making it a hardtail. Actually, the Jetmoto suspension looks like it would work. A bit beefier too! My swingarm mount wasn't underneath, it was below but more in front of the swingarm. If that's clear!

It's not the same anymore. Replacing all of it.

Somebody told me recently that the original Lifans which most of these seem to be copied from were originally measured and copied from an XL-XR100. If this is the case that may be an easier solution.

It seems the chinks never really copy anything, they just make it look like a copy, if it works fine, if not oh well.

I've seen at least 3 different types of these and none of them seem consistent in measurements or in the way they are assembled.

Hey your dogbone isn't bent.

SamM 04-25-2007 08:18 AM

Pauli shows a good picture there. I was thinking that rear bracket was more forward than the Jetmoto. Guess not! I took a torch mine and cut it off. In her picture you can see the dog bone is much closer to bottom shock eye. Mine was right up against it and had worn the paint off the dog bone.

So in conclusion the stock chinese suspension sucks?

P.S. Sorry for bringing up the dead :?
