Tao 125

Question.. So I recently bought a tao 125 from a guy and he said the carb was bad. I ordered a new carb and throttle cable. I installed both of them on the ATV and now right when you start it the engine runs at full throttle even if I am not touching the throttle. There is also no response when you do try to use the throttle lever. Just runs at continuous full throttle. I'm new at working on ATVs but I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I'm stuck. Help!!!! Also found out the kill switch doesn't work. I had to pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug just to get the engine to turn off and I can't find any wire diagrams to fix it. Help!!!!

Check to make sure the slide is installed correctly. Look through the carb from the filter side toward the motor. The slide should be all the way down or close to it. If not, then it's in backwards. There are pins on both sides of the carb throat, one higher than the other that line up with the grooves on the slIde. If I remember correctly, Weldangrind (a poster here) stated that the beveled part of the slide faces the idle adjustment screw.

Human Being will be along with the info about the kill switch.

willing to bet david is right on the carb issue, the slide should drop all the way to the bottom of the throat, if it dosent pull it out and turn it 180deg and drop it back in,
as far as the kill switch goes , just replace it. you can get then from any of the dealers or amazon or ebay for about $10 and are very simple to replace,

here is what i found on a quick search on ebay
