Do it right the first time!
 

Replaced a bike tube for the first time in 1961. 56 years later for the first time ruined a new tube during install. First time for everything. Ordered a 100/90-19 tube from American Mototire and they sent a 120 to 140 tube and it was a bit clumsy. Went to Abernathy's yesterday and requested a 100/90-19 tube. Got home and noticed the numbers on the box were 2.75 to 3.00, which converts to 80 to 90 cross section. Too small. No wonder I don't like doing business with Abernathy's. Again. Now I have a really good reason to head out for a couple hundred miles of country 2-lanes to find a tube. :yay: :hi:

Then enough miles to change back to synthetic oil.

It's really easily done. I didn't for the first three changes on my bike, then on the fourth I managed it.



Overconfident with the tyre irons, not enough pressure in the tube to keep it pinching, and a lot of time wasted.

Been there, done that. :ohno:

I can always tell when I'll pinch a tube because the install went perfectly. Those are usually the ones I mess up. If I fight with it for hours, never a problem.

Hope so. Ordered a new 100/90-19 Kenda from americanmototire.com, the tube they sent was a French heavy duty for 120 to 140. It was a bear and I killed it. Accidently. Drove to the nearest dealer and asked for a 100/90-19, got home with a Japanese 2.75/3.00-19. Figured I'd stuff it in and ride over for the correct tube the next day. It committed hari kari, 2 inch (5cm) split belly the next morning. Drove to the local dealer again and specified a Chinese 100/90-19. Went in easy, still holding air. :tup:

I think I bought the heavy duty IRC tubes they are definitely tougher than the stock and not very expensive
