Bashan Storm Chain and Sprocket Question

Hello All,

I just got a 2020 Bashan Storm 250. After riding about 60 miles and reading different posts I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to upgrade the chain and sprocket. I read that upgrading the chain improves the performance. I would also like to be able to take this on the highway and hit 65-75MPH and I know I would need to replace the current sprocket to do that, so I was wondering what chain should I get and what kind of sprocket should I get?

P.S. I’m not at all advanced when it comes to working on bikes so any details on what specific parts and tuning I need to do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You won't get 75mph, maybe 75 on the dream-o-meter which is more like 60-65 in actual miles per hour. With an exhaust and pod filter I can get to about 68 wide open on a calibrated speedo or gps.

here is the one I used.

Yea that makes sense and how about for the chain, what size and what kind do you recommend

I'm just curious.. how many teeth are on the stock front sprocket of the Storm? Does it come 17 like the Brozz?

I ended up buying a JT 428-130 chain. I’ll install it this this weekend so we’ll see how that goes. I read somewhere on here that if you upgrade the rear sprocket to a lower tooth count it helps get a higher top speed, some people were saying a 40 tooth sprocket is a good choice. Any thoughts?

Makes a bigger difference on the hawk because it's geared a good bit higher than the storm stock. Storm would do 60+ but it was screaming. I have a 42 on mine and it helped get the rpms down some

I can hit 70-75 repeatedly on my Storm. 17/43 is my current gearing. I tried the 39 and 42, the 39 is too dangerous in traffic. You lose all the low end snap for making left hand turns across lanes and steep hill torque is just gone. Pipe, carb, pod and taking off weight should get you to 70+ no problem. Getting the jetting perfect took a lifetime!!

Yes, all the Bashan dual-sports, no matter who distributes them (3 or 4 different distributors I can think of) use the same gearing of 17/46 stock.

Roketa distributes the Bashan that is near-identical to the Hawk(I do not recall the name, but it might be an alphanumeric name like '41H') as well as the Storm 250. Roketa also carried a bike that looked kind of like an adventure bike, and used 17/17 wheels and tires. It was on the same EPA/DOT certificate as the other Bashan dual-sports.

Vitacci also distributes the Hawk-like Bashan under their own brand name.

BMS sells the BMS 250 CRP which is kind of like a cross between the Storm and Brozz and whose OEM is Bashan.

And finally, Peace Motorsports sells the Brozz 250 and the Brozz Recon 250 variant.

And all use the same gearing; 17/46 as I mentioned earlier (including the adventure-ish bike which I am not sure is still available).

I got max speed on the 2020 Bashan brozz 250 at WOT 77 MPH
