Father daughter PW50 project

Picked up this PW50 for a couple hundred

It runs. Not the best though
Missing an air filter and kick start is not original
Needs a choke cable aswel. But otherwise complete

Going to strip it down and clean everything up. Wiring job can be tidied up and coil wire is all taped up. Probably just replace it

While it's apart going to power wash everything and paint it. White frame and pink plastics. Might try my hand at recovering the seat too

That's all for now. My daughter is 2 and a half right now. Hopefully have this thing done by the time she's 3

Excellent choice! No chain to worry about with new riders.

Painting the gas tank will be trouble. Gas fumes pass through the plastic, and it'll bubble and peel in a week. The best bet would be to find a white or black tank, and do the rest of the plastic in pink.

I'm looking forward to following your progress. :D

I did a quick search, and found a pink plastic kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pink-Plastic...138f98&vxp=mtr

Boy, you are going to be the worlds greatest dad.

That pink kit would be the way to go. Freshly painted frame it would look like new.

X2 on all points. :)

Thanks everyone. After seeing the kit I'll probably not bother painting the plastics. But I'll get everything else done first avd plastics last since it'll still function yellow for the time being.

Good for you, Dad. :) You've got to start them young. ;)

Weldangrind 06-27-2014 10:23 AM

Great pic! She'll long remember the time you spent with her on dirt bikes.

Knowing that eBay sellers come and go, I recommend that you grab that pink kit while you can. The price is right.

Well I got the bike running better today was able to ride it around the block.

At dinner today I opened my mouth and told Hailey "you know all the yellow parts on your bike. I'm gunna buy you pink ones" her eyes lit right up and she yelled "PROMISE"
So these are ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/140748188943
I also went ahead and ordered a proper air filter for it http://www.ebay.com/itm/181095758517

Here's us one one of the test rides

A video of same ride

Mods feel free to edit no helmets (frowned upon. I should know better too)

So as of right now aside from waiting I just need to replace choke cable (brothers got one for me)
And fix the rear brakes and it's basically done.

It will be getting somewhat torn down and frame painted pretty quick too

Thanks

Dave
