Custom work on a skyteam v-raptor (retro) 250

Looking forward to getting some work done on the black wombat (skyteam v-retro 250) tomorrow at The Kustom Kommune http://kustomkommune.com.au/#/. For starters need to check valves, replace muffler, straighten buckled front wheel, check and replace any essential bolts with ones that don't snap in half (e.g. those connecting the motor to everything else!), get starter motor working again, etc etc.
I'm impressed with what others have done with the skyteam bikes, getting up to 40% more power. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=902645 and I have a clear image of what I hope to end up with (photo below) |
That's funny! :D I have almost exactly the same bike.

BTW, excellent thread link! I just read through the entire thing.

Good luck at the Kustom Kommune! Please keep us updated.

Great Day at The Kustom Kommune. Put on new throaty muffler (now my bike sounds like a bike, not a scooter) ripped out the monster sized air filter to replace with pod filter. Cut the shiiit out of the back of the black wombat (skyteam v-retro) to show off it's fine huge ass! Still to paint fenders black but already the $2,000 rocket is looking like one mean black custom machine
I'm probably going to need new jets for the carby due to the new muffler and pod air filter. Can anyone recommend a what size? |
that pushbike of yours needs a decent crank - those cast iron ones crack easily. get a redline maybe.
the kustomisationcommune looks interesting. i ll have to drop by when in melbourne next year. post a few photos of your progress! i ve got a 230 motor like yours and it rocks with a podfilter and a 115 main jet and a 25 pilot. in a different frame though. am using a 15 front and a 46 rear sprocket on an 18 inch wheel, with a unrestricted exhaust (it s a tranzac) |

Cool.
So your keeping the luggage rack? This is the carb that was recommended to me http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121060132...84.m1423.l2649 I emailed the seller of the carb and asked what jet sizes it comes with and they had no idea what I was talking about. I haven't bought one yet just adjusted the stock carb the best I could at the moment with my reverse cone muffler, more test rides required to see if it's good enough. Would love to see some pics of the pod filter once you've got it installed. |

keeping the luggage rack, using original lights. Welded a bracket at the back to attach number plate and rear brake light. Fenders, luggage rack all painted a satin black.
I want to keep the original carby, just increase the jet size, does anyone know what jets fit? I have ordered a 42 mm pod air filter |
what is the original carbie? i also have the mikuni, which is a 26mm i believe, but sold as 30mm.
|
The original is likely to be a Keihin clone, and I've found them to be inconsistent with main and slow jet designs. The 30mm Mikuni carbs have been 100% consistent, and jets are much easier to find. I usually find 30mm Mikuni carbs for around $40, including shipping.
