My son's wanted to start riding and camping with me so I gave him the rx-3 sold my Harley and picked up a 2003 KLR one owner with 4100 original miles. He didn't want the bags on the rx-3 and they surprisingly went on easy on the KLR

First gen KLR, nice!

I have one just like it but mine is a 99 year, it's a similar green color too.

Did your bike already have the "Doo" upgraded to the Eagle Mike version yet? I should have the tools around here somewhere if you want to save some $$ and borrow them... it should be done sooner rather then later

In your area (usually Hotter temps), I doubt you will need a Thermo-Bob, but they really do help with the huge temp fluctuations these bikes see and I would still recommend one be put on all KLR 650 motorcycles

KLX needle and some jet work will really help with the few "dead spots" on accelerating with a stock carb, makes it accelerate nice and smooth all the way through the RPM range

And the clutch springs are a little soft for these bikes... I would recommend an upgrade to some Barnett 501-40-06058 springs (usually found on the Kawasaki ZX-10) originally found them on Schnitz Racing website

https://store.schnitzracing.com/schn...wasaki-klr650/

But amazon and ebay usually have them for the same price with no shipping charges

already ordered the eagle mikes doohickey. the PO hasnt done anything but ride it.and not much by the mileage. I was debating on the thermo bob but havent checked the temps yet because all the rain weve had havent even had a chance to ride it yet. tropical storm cristy is dumping alot of rain on us.

he was asking $2950. I bought it for $2400. theres plenty of 2008 and 2009,s here for 2800. but they usally have close to 20,000 miles on them. I went with this one because of only 4100 mi. on it. A state over and 7 hr. round trip to pick it up.

that's not a bad price at all for what you got. you're ready for a dual sport trip now!

got the off road lights mounted and wired up. Also UPS delivered my new helmet last night. really like flat black with the flip up shield. Not to bad for $55. with free 2 day shipping from amazon.

Nice, and basically new with the mileage.
