https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...db&oe=5711423F Hey all! Mike here from Houston TX. Brand new to sport bikes and learning about them. Just recently picked up a 2012 JL250P-2 from a friend (ROKETA MC-25-250?) with only 250 miles on the chassis and engine. I've always been a fan of the Honda CBR (particularly the Repsol 250) but I've never owned, nor even ridden a bike until I bought this one. I'm just trying to soak up as much info as I can with regards to technique and safety while I get my feet wet. So far I'm really enjoying this bike and it has behaved pretty well. The Spyder in the first pic is my other toy. Any other JL owners on this forum? :thanks: |
Welcome! :hi:

I think Daeouse owns a JL250P-2, but I'm not sure.

Welcome to these forums, Mike. :hi: We are glad you joined us. :)
I highly recommend you take the MSF Basic RiderCourse. It is the best money you will ever spend. ;) http://www.msf-usa.org/ |

Thank you sir! I will definitely be looking at these courses in the near future. |

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...929e43864ca2e2 A couple more pics of the Spyder. I'll have more of the JL in the near future. Thanks again for the warm welcome! |
I'd love to take one of those for a rip.

The Spyder is a gutted 1900 lb gokart (mid engine) with some response mods... adjustable coilovers, lightweight pulley kit, clutch & lightweight flywheel, lighter wheels and better tires. The car is lowered about 2.5 inches, and handles really well. The bike is, well, a bike! I've been poking around the forums here and there the last few days. I don't think I've found any other active JL250P owners. I'm learning the JL is not necessarily a popular brand? At least, maybe in the USA? Do most people around here own bikes under 250cc? |

It looks like you finally found something to your liking. Best of luck with all your projects! :thanks: |

Yes, most of what has brought us here are small bikes, 250 and under. Several members also own larger bikes as well. |

As far as I can tell there are two versions of this bike... JL250P seems to be more popular, twin cylinder 250 clone of the Honda Rebel and/or Nighthawk. The limited amount of info/videos I've found about this bike (or the Roketa branded one) has been on this version. All the info I've found seems to be pre 2012. This bike is obviously Dual Exhaust. http://www.jclusa.com/upfiles/JL-250-color-Black.jpg My JL250P-2 seems less popular, maybe because it is newer? Mine is a 2012/2013. My engine is a single cylinder 250 and only has one exhaust pipe/muffler on the right side, the other side is blank. I can try to post some pics in the near future. http://store.oohla.com/storefiles/te...9142293580.JPG As far as I can tell everything else seems the same... http://store.oohla.com/storefiles/te...9141204126.JPG http://store.oohla.com/storefiles/te...9141121639.JPG http://store.oohla.com/storefiles/te...9140875138.JPG My engine breathes through a little cable chocked PZ30 carburetor with a little filter attached to the end of it. This seems to be a really common carb from what I've learned online? I took it apart to clean it when I first bought the bike. That was my very first forte into carbs and learning about them. All my experience with cars has been EFI related. http://www.scooterparts4less.com/web...Choke_logo.jpg Any ideas? |
