New Technology: LED Headlight Replacement Bulb
LED headlight bulbs have recently increased in brightness, and lowered in price. :) I discovered the Cyclops LED headlight bulb, and learned many riders are using this bulb, and like it. You can learn more about the Cyclops LED bulb at the following thread. ;)
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=948701 http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/DSC_1862.jpg However, the Cyclops LED bulb costs $60, and I don't want to pay that much. :wtf: Then I discovered the following thread. ;) http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=976670 Searching eBay, I learned a variety of vendors are now selling the Nao M3/Moto3 LED bulb, which appears to be virtually identical to the Cyclops LED bulb. ;) http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzE3WDcyNw...ToXPP/$_12.JPG The LED headlight bulbs sold on eBay cost about $20-$25/ bulb, and this price was acceptable to me. :) Therefore, I placed an order for the following bulb, and I expect it to arrive this week. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301255212784...witem=&vxp=mtr After the bulb arrives I will experiment mounting it in my Zongshen 200GY-2, Honda CRF250X, and Honda XR650L. Needless to say, I will report on bulb fitment, bulb brightness, and the bulb's effectiveness in illuminating the road at night. ;) |
That's even less than Taobao, although I think you get two in the box:

That's a good price! Hope it works well.

Thank you for posting the great link on Taobao, HumanBeing. Does the price of 75 Yuan include the following item, or does it cost extra?

It's extra. You don't need that in modern bike (DC to headlight).

I hope to receive my LED headlight bulb this week. If this LED bulb works as well as expected, I certainly plan to order more bulbs for my other motorcycles from the Taobao link you provided. :thanks: |
Here are some comparison photographs contrasting a 55W/60, H4 halogen bulb with the LED headlight bulb.
Here is the road illuminated by the H4 halogen bulb on low beam. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psf5103b0b.png Here is the road illuminated by the LED bulb on low beam. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psa0b0e24f.png Here is the road illuminated by the H4 halogen bulb on high beam. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...psb8973c5b.png Here is the road illuminated by the LED bulb on high beam. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps84ff6b35.png The LED bulb is reported to generate more light at lower power consumption, along with a much longer service life of over 30,000 hours. :D |
Something else to do when the storm 250 gets here

Wow that's a huge difference! I put LEDs in the dash of my Q, and one in the " night bulb" on the headlight as well. I guess I'll be ordering one of these if it works out for you spud!
