Templar 250 skid plate

I found a skid plate that fits the base Templar pretty well all things considered. Unfortunately they sent me blue when I ordered black so I need to exchange it but since I had it I tested the fitment and it ain't bad. The included mounting bracket works and it looks pretty good on the bike. There is a hole in the back that lines up with a frame crosstube and can be attached with a zip tie. The base Templar frame gets much wider at the foot pegs so it will fit better if I heat up the plate and flatten it a little or cut away a bit in that area.

I was considering making one from a HDPE cutting board but this is a lot less work. I wish I had a heat gun but maybe I can use a propane torch instead. Let me know what you think about the fitment.

The skid plate is Cycra SKU: 1CYC-6206-12 and fits 2010-2013 Yamaha YZ450F.

I made one for mine out of 1/8" Aluminum, added some to the sides in front of the shifter/brake pedal, to add a little more protection.....don't have any pics, but will try to get some

I like it. I never thought of a plastic one for some reason. Definitely need a color swap there though. :)

I used the Cycra plate for an 05-19 YZ250.. it fits well except it needs some foam or delrin spacers in front to be able to tighten up.

Nice. I'd like to see what it looks like when you get a chance. Learning to TIG is on my list of things to learn someday.

If I had left the oem graphics on the blue might have worked but definitely not with the monochromatic black/orange theme. I ordered a black one today.

Thanks! I zoomed way in and got a pretty good look. I'd be happy with that.

My new black skid plate is done. I had little success bending it with heat so I ended up cutting it instead. It fits pretty well with the included mounting bracket and a zip tie at the rear. It's not the best skid plate ever but it's a helluva lot better than no skid plate. I added a hole so I can change the oil without removing the skid plate. Cost: $65

Have you ridden with the new plastic skid plate? The stock plate on a templar X sounds like a bad hail storm on some loose gravel. Be nice to quiet that down a bit.

Also think it would fit over the stock plate? Nothing like double protection. :)

I haven't ridden it yet but will report back on it later. Have you considered attaching some noise cancelling material to the stock skid plate? It might help. I don't know how well this skid plate might fit the Templar X/M frame. My base Templar frame is quite different.

Edit: Rode a little today and can't tell the skid plate is even there. None of that metal skid plate resonance and reflected sound waves.
