Hello from NYC

Well I am a new Kinroad owner. My brother owned the vehicle for 10 years and only road it for a grand total of 225 miles. It has a rev limter so he stopped riding it. This vehicle has sat for all these years until this summer I decided to put it together.

I havent road a bike for 20 years so its a good introductory bike.

its a 2000 Kinroad Xt 200 Gy.

Welcome to the forum. :D Nice ride!

I only rode a bike once in Manhattan. A 750 Nighthawk. The experience was, shall I say, intense.

Does the bike run now?

Rameek 08-11-2012 10:57 AM

Unfortunately I can not find anything on ebay for this bike!

SpudRider 08-15-2012 01:21 AM

Welcome! :) I have discovered walking is difficult in Manhattan; riding a bike must be quite intense. 8O

Search eBay using generic terms such as "dirt bike brake pads." Most of these Chinese bikes usually employ the same front brake calipers, et cetera. ;) What specific parts are you searching for?

Spud :)

I have ridden in many cities. Manhattan was the most difficult, Miami was the most dangerous, and San Francisco was the most fun.

SpudRider 08-15-2012 02:44 PM

Staten Island is one of the five boroughs of New York City. ;) I bet one could ride more safely in Staten Island than in Manhattan. :)

No comparison. I missed he was not in Manhattan.

Rameek 08-18-2012 01:35 AM

Yeah Manhattan can be dangerous. I was riding down there today in the village. Brooklyn is even worse.

I just received a new Killswitch but it doesnt work but the ignition does.
My fuse is blowing while I am riding which is terrible. I have no idea why its doing this.....

You must have an electrical short somewhere. :( I suggest you examine all your wiring and fix the electrical short, before it strands you in an unpleasant situation. 8O

So Spud I found out one of my issues. My Stator wire clips heated cooled and crumbled... horrible. The wires were grounding on the frame. I fixed it. Yeah I have been stranded a few times because of it.

I still cant find out why the killswitch dont work yet. The ignition switch works though weird.

Weldangrind 09-03-2012 11:42 PM

The kill switch won't work because it's not completing the circuit to ground. While that sounds trite, it really is that simple. When you turn the kill switch off, you're actually connecting one terminal of the CDI to ground. Either the ground wire has broken, the wire to the CDI has broken or the switch simply isn't completing the circuit.
