I can't find the right button for the solenoid starter, help please :)

Im trying to setup my starter and I only need a button that will work for this solenoid starter http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2218456...322818&lpid=82 can you help me find one online? I've tried looking and I don't know how too find it

Any momentary switch will work but I use one like this which incorporates a kill switch.

How would I wire it together, the red/yellow is in a plug and i have wires with the ends like the green and black wires. Thanks

Don't trust ANY color code (maybe for other brand/ low paid worker in BAD mood ...) in non genuine parts . Use multimeter find out which is which 1st.

Could you recommend a button that would work? Thanks

Any switch will work ,a momentary contact is what you need ,just find one that suits your mounting set up ( handlebars or bodywork ) .

Get on eBay and search for pit bike start button and you'll see lots of options. The simplest ones have just 2 wires like this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-St...VWxmzZ&vxp=mtr

Different bikes use different wiring methods for the switch and solenoid, either breaking/completing the circuit in the battery + side or the ground side, the ground side being the most common.

the starter button wiring can be quite complex as you have to run AC current though it
can't run DC from the battrey as it will burn out quicker than you can blink..
the AC current is picked up from the rectifier... AC current & DC current can NOT
come in contact with each other so a Diode has to be in the system....

So make sure you get the correct wires....

Its time to post some pictures of your bike so we can see what you're working with. Do you need a new switch because your original switch went bad? If so a new exact matching switch should be easy enough to find and it will likely have matching wire colors and plug ends. It does not appear you have much experience with this type of stuff but we can help you learn if you provide us with some more information. Maker/name/pictures of the bike and what exactly you are trying to get done to it.

Here are pictures of mostly everything, I actually am building a shifter kart so things might not be perfect. I can give more pictures of anything on the kart, just tell me what to take a picture of and ill do it.

Heres a picture of the kart, sorry if its sideways. OH and I forgot to tell you guys that I bought a lifan 200cc 5 spd engine of ebay, heres the link to the exact engine I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFAN-200CC-...3D360371383554

Since it's a cart ,you can mount it in the bodywork ,so just go to an automotive store and buy a universal push button starter switch ,or if you prefer ,a universal keyed ignition switch .

I already bought a ignition switch but i don't think i wired it correctly. I bought the switch and mindlessly plugged it into a plug from my harness that fit perfectly, so i assumed that it was hooked up properly, each wire matched colors also. Heres the switch i bought http://www.amazon.com/GOOFIT-Wires-I...y+go+fit+200cc Do you think i should somehow connect the switch i bought to my starter solenoid instead of the plug that fit it perfectly?

Bruce's 03-12-2016 09:30 PM

Yes ,post #4 above clearly states don't trust the wiring on these switches and parts ,get a meter or a test light and figure out what is going on .If you built the cart ,theiring should of been easy .
