bikes dies

delete if not allowed in this thread but i have a 2020 vader boom 125cc bike and i installed a new carburetor and whenever i give slow throttle it revs but when i give a quick throttle it died right away sounding lie its getting too much air. i took off the air filter and i can see its wet inside the carb and that the pin is soaked. any suggestions?:hmm:

Is the carb a vm22 knock off?

Acqua512 03-04-2021 03:03 PM

I believe it is

Does it run ok with the old carb?

Acqua512 03-04-2021 05:45 PM

Yeah, maybe its the spark plug?

Make sure float height is set right. With float bowl off carb flip it upside down. Float should sit fairly level. If not bend little tab till it does. Set the idle air/fuel mixture to 1.5 turns out(screw on bottom of carb, will need to remove from bike to do). Install a size 100 jet. Put needle clip all the way rich(towards pointy end). Make sure choke is off( lever in down position)That should get you close to decent running.

Keep in mind not all vm22 clones are the same. You might have a bunk one.

Typically these carbs run lean out of the box unless you live at high altitude. Did you order a jet kit with the carb?

Attached pic is where the idle air/fuel screw adjustment is.
Screw that in until it stops but apply light force when you do it. Just until it bottoms out. Then back the screw out and count the rotations. You want to back it out 1.5 turns. This should get you pretty close and seems to work for a lot of people.

Oooh okay, ill give it a try after work and see if it makes a difference. If not then the hell with it ill install the original carb and airbox back on.

TxTaoRider 03-05-2021 05:45 AM

Wait, are you not running an airbox now? Then you're probably way lean on your main jet and possibly on your needle position.

Acqua512 03-05-2021 01:49 PM

I'm running the air filter they sent with the carb

Big Bird 03-05-2021 03:35 PM

You are going to need a jet kit to get it perfect. If you max out the needle clip position to run rich as possible it should make it rideable at least. Do you know how to adjust the needle?

Acqua512 03-05-2021 04:23 PM

The screw on the side right? It'll adjust the needle inside for the throttle?
