Sounds like you have a high mileage/abuse bike, probably best to simply survive, patch up as needed to keep it rolling.

Also, if your bike is stock, with no air box/carb/exhaust mods, that could be hiding some of the performance...

I dont deny they make more power. Power that gets you to the same speeds as before, only in a shorter time. The only way a CDI box makes more speed is by allowing more rpm.

By filing the holes, all you have done is adjust the base level timing. Your CDI box still has whatever advance curve is programmed into it, modding the pick-up coil only changes the starting point...
