There used to be a tutorial for c-clip adjustment in the tech section, but I am no longer able to find the info. Anyone know where it can be found?

If you mean just removing the monoshock assembly, it isn't terribly difficult. Remove the seat, side cover, battery box, and air box. Use nylon straps, rope or chain to suspend the rear of the bike...

That's what I used; I had some pieces left over from some that had to be cut to fit a snowmobile. They work just fine, but I would think a cutting board would work just about as well.

Unlikely you'll find anything that would work in a GY-5 tank. The tank is not shaped to allow the float assembly of a gauge-type cap to reach to the bottom of the tank.
