Ariel, you are correct, I was reading this, it states you want about an 80 grit finish on the intake, and a polished exhaust.

Yes, mine were loose. all 4 carb to intake and intake to head, not sure that's what fixed it, but with the mixture screw turned out to 1.5 and the bolts tightened it idles a lot better and faster...
