Crying whirring noise now...

About a week ago I faintly heard this whirring sound..
Then the timing chain noise started and couldnt hear this..
it is louder on the right side but not too much more..
Now since the timing chain is silent.. this noise ia making me nervous...
ANY suggestions feedback appreciated.
Especially if she goes down I have to take the bus to school until the 'part arrives'...

I had the same problem. Showed up @ 54K miles. Whirring noise at idle, which would get louder with a couple more revs. Lasted a few days then went away for a month. This cycle happened 2 more times. Bike ran fine, battery charging. It finally took a s@@@ after 3 months. Battery dead, bike died. It was the generator rotor. All the magnets had finally come loose and were stuck to the stator, no charge. I think when 1 of the magnets would come loose, it would be grinding on the stator. Once it was ground up, the noise went away and the generator would still charge sans 1 magnet. Tear you generator apart, just because it still charges doesn't mean anything.
