I was tempted to do the same.
However, I like keeping the extra current on another wire, with another fuse. Also, I like being able to turn the auxiliary lights off when starting the motorcycle, which reduces the load on the battery. As soon as the bike starts, I flip the A1 switch, and the auxiliary lights are illuminated.
