I like maxi scooters for what they are. If it's your only vehicle, it sure is handy to be able to transport groceries home on the hooks between your knees, in the trunk and under the seat. Forum member AtomicWedgie had a Silverwing 600, and it was a pleasure to ride. It cornered really well, and it had a nice low CG. It would cruise comfortably on the highway all day long.

A similar sized sport bike doesn't have any storage, unless you start adding tank bags, etc. I realize that a sport bike is built for a different purpose, but they're certainly far from utilitarian. A DS can be fitted with a trunk and panniers, but a maxi scooter is designed for cargo right out of the box. It just depends on what your needs are.
