That's what I did...used an angle grinder to remove bracket and touched up bare metal with Rustoleum paint.
Also washed and oiled the air filter before reassembly.
There sure is a lot of drama just to get to the air filter.
But that's not all. I should have posted this first.
To get to the air filter you need to remove the half side panel, which has it's own surprise:
