So far, the Gas Tank Repair Putty I got at AutoZone is still intact, with no issues or leakage. I suggest if your going that route, to use the entire stick of putty. Knead it for a while first.
1. Empty Tank
2. Place putty all around the seam, Kneading it into place
3. Let sit for 24 hours. Or longer
4. verify the seal worked by placing about 1/2 gallon of gas in.
5. wait 30 minutes to verify no leaking.
6. Re install tank, and fill with gas
