I can do one better than PVC! I randomly stopped by the local metal shop and they had some 1 inch OD Bronze pipe a bit less than a foot in length, about Sch 80. thickness, that they let me have for 10 bucks (after tax ). Time to break out the band saw... I think I might start big with 50mm spacers, just to see how they feel. A bit more than double what the stock ones are.
