This is the shifter I use. Moves the peg inboard quite a bit getting it more out of harms way and opening up some much needed room for the foot. Swapping out the bolt it comes with for a button head allen will make installation much easier.

As far as seat comfort goes, some guys will put different foam on their seat for comfort. Some guys on here swear by this thing. I have yet to try it, but it's on my wish list to try.
