If it were me, I'd see if the XR can be titled, and if so, if the XR motor is truly smoked and it's an R opposed to L model, swap the motor into the XR chassis. Would it be a huge improvement? No, but better than what you've got by a bit. That, or just buy a spare motor and swap it in.
