I feel a bit remiss that I did not include these photos from my recent ride. In a silent, beautiful spot in the Idaho mountains I discovered this touching monument.




The inscription reads:

In memory of our friend
Darrell Newsom
1966 – 1987

The eagles with him shared their secrets
Came to him a great joy few will know
Of untethered flight on wings silent and bright
From these hills to the sky he would go.

From these hills he spun magically upwards
Chasing dream laden clouds with much skill
Though, now Darrell is gone, in our hearts he soars on
An eagle cries, and we think of him still.
