I'm not familiar with that specific engine, but I'd guess that there is an oil screen, much like the XR Hondas. I can't imagine how you'd add a filter, aside from remote mount, and that would be cost-prohibitive to me.
The old Hondas run for years and years with the screen setup, and they're still made that way today.
