Interesting . Seems like gear is stripped below the magnet rotating thingy. The tach has the same gearing setup driven off the magnet turny thing but I cant tell what it does on the tach as it's not driving anything except a gear to nowhere not turning anything ???? Maybe it just adds some friction to the whole works to make it all run evenly? So if I could R&R the axle with stripped gear off of tach and put it in the speedo, then Bob's your uncle.
Any instrument repair guys on here that knows what all the gearing to nowhere does on tach?
How to fix stripped gear in speedo w/o having to disassemble the whole shebang?

2nd pic with arrow shows end of stripped gear shaft. If I push that axle in towards mating gear , then it turns like it should. If I don't push it in, then theres enough slop in the holes that gears don't mesh up enough to turn.
