IMO the 250cc platform in these bikes is well suited to dual sport and dirtbike applications where they shine and are a ton of fun.. generally you cant use anywhere near the max output most of the ADV's or Big-4 dirtbikes have on gravel and hard pack, especially in tight technical terrain where too much throttle and you're going off that cliff or into a tree.. with that being said, other than for looks, i think its kinda silly to market a "superbike" style bike when its like 15-20hp and cant go much over 70mph but for the younger riders i know sportbikes is where its at, and probably most of us started out on one as i did 30 years ago with a ZX11.. so for them its a great way to learn not only how to ride but how to work on and maintain a bike and i think whatever gets you to tiptoe into this world is worth it regardless of what the nay sayers might say.. as always, do what makes you happy not what the other guy thinks you should do (why i've never owned a Harley)
