The original CDI from my 5speed X is in the parts box since I replaced it with the adjustable CDI. So I didn't have to take off the side plastic

Weeble's pic shows the one on the 6 speed had a part number beginning "DCI..." and it is indeed a DC unit (mine is identical). The one on the 5-speed sez "CDI..." and it was definitely an AC unit:
