Ever wondered how much water flows through the thermostat air bleed hole when the thermostat is shut ? , NO, why not ?

Half baked theory # 1

It took just 2 mins to pump through 1 Litre of water, that's the total coolant capacity of the RX3.

And this pump is tiny , it used to be part of a miniature solar fountain. Probably operates at less than 1000rpm.

No match to the bikes pump in size and running at 1500rpm plus.

So my theory is that this amount of coolant flow , and its probably more, is enough to keep the system cool, below the thermostat opening temp.

( standard RX3, 70c stat used ).
