Regulator / rectifier

Soooooo, I was fine tuning my pz30 pumper carb when my wideband meter started acting up. I assumed maybe my o2 sensor had went to the dark side so I replaced it. Went to use it yesterday and the same thing. Itd test and calibrate ok but quit when the bike was running.

So I grab my voltage meter an voila, theres a problem. About 15 volts at idle and 15.8 at about 2000rpm. Way more than the 14.5 ish I was expecting. The bike is only 6 months old and about 1000 miles on it.

I wasnt expecting it to fail so soon, is this common?

I ordered a replacement from Csc and a cheap10.00 one from ebay as a back up.

Not all that common, really. You will likely find the wire colors on the CSC unit different from the one on your bike since the TT250 uses a higher output 3 phase stator. It will have 3 yellow wires, red and green (Pos and neg for battery). It can still be used, but it will require a new connector or a little creative re-pinning to use.

Most of the cheaper bikes use a 2 phase with a white and yellow charge wire, red and green, and a black 12v ignition circuit.

You can wire the white and yellow to two of the three yellow wires, leave the last wire disconnected. Red to red, green to green, and then cap off the 12V positive ignition circuit.

Mine has 5 wires into a 6 pin connector (1 pin is blank). Green, black, pink on top, yellow and red on bottom.
