I'm Pooped

Five, count 'em, five airplane rides in 24 hours. Chicago to Phoenix to Oakland just so I could stand on the BART tracks at 1:30 this morning for an hour. Oakland to Phoenix to Minneapolis and back Chicago. On the plus side, if there is one, I got two first class upgrades on the way home.

I will never, ever, do this again.

More of California dept. of transportation dollars down the drain? Or did they get their money's worth. I know your company didn't do it for free unless it was a warranty call.

It was warranty work due to an engineering SNAFU on our end. Some wear plates were machined too thick due to the Metric System and the Imperial System not playing well together. We did the rework in house and sent the parts back to BART. They reinstalled them and I went out to make doubly sure that things worked the way they should. And they did.

Customer service at its' finest.

Cool! I like the details.

I remember they "said" they lost a Mars Lander due to a metric/Sae snafu (situation normal all f#^%ked up )

What was travel time vs job time, we could use a laugh.

I've done on several occasions, health club warranty calls where I had to show the lovely operator where the facility circuit breakers were. (CHA-CHING $$$)

Lessee. Left home at 2:30 pm CST and got to Oakland at 10:30 pm PST (12:30 am CST), so 10 hours there.

Got to the jobsite at 11 pm. Sat on my ass until 1 am when I could leave to get on track with the crew. Twenty minutes to and from track MP. Was on track until 2am and back in my rental at 2:30. So, about 40 minutes of work and 40 minutes of commuting. Napped in the rental for an hour. Turned it back in at 4am.

Left Oakland at 6 am PST and back to O'hare at 6 pm CST, back home at 7:00 CST, so 11 hrs there.

About 25 hours of travel, including commuting.

7 hours of scratching my backside.

40 minutes of work.

This was the first flight of the year and I've racked up 4000 miles already. 46000 more until I hit AA Platinum for 2018. I only did 28000 last year, enough for AA Gold for this year. Gold is okay, Platinum is better. Executive Platinum is the "I have no life outside of work" card.

Never, ever is a long time, Queso. Here's hoping you don't have to go through that again.
