My Lifan X-Pect 200

So far, this has been the best investment i've made in a long time. Weather has been up and down here in PA. Hoping for warmer weather soon.

Still need to get my permit / get this registered, so only been riding around my neighborhood, local car dealership and some back trails/fields. Up to 68 miles so far. Loving every second of it.

Bent my handlebars on first woods trip, buddy helped me bend them back so we could keep riding. Moto Pro sent me a replacement, but swapped to ProTaper now.

It's amazing how good these cheap little bikes make you feel. Congrats on the new bike.

You are already well on your way to replacing the parts with better ones as they go wrong. The Handlebars on my Hawk was one of the first things I upgraded for a very similar reason. It got laid down, not very hard, and the bars bent.

Totally, i had a 150cc Jincheng dirt bike when i moved in with my wife back in 06. Rode it around, but wasn't many areas i could take it without getting balls busted by local PD, so i sold it. Haven't ridden anything really since. I don't want super speed, i just want to go where others can't in the woods and explore.

Did debate going with the hawk, it was a tossup, but not able to register it in PA :(

Mine was about a 6mph slide out, hit the edge of this mud puddle and just fell / tipped over. Buddy came over to check me, i was fine, but yea, the 1mm thickness of the handlebars doesn't hold up. Luckily at the end of the day and was able to get a few more runs in.

NJ and PA (and of course, California) seem to have it out for most Chinese bikes. I understand the 49-state EPA/DOT legal Hawk DLX is not able to be registered in NJ because they haven't updated their registration list for a few years. And I believe NJ (or maybe it is PA?) also recognizes the RPS Hawk's VIN number as a non-street legal bike, and the DLX's VIN #s are too close to the off-road Hawk's VIN #s.

The Lifan is a good choice as it did not sound like you were looking to rip through the woods and other off-road places--you were looking for a trail bike which the Lifan is. Having a reliable engine and FI system couldn't hurt, either!
