Need help with lightbulb
My Polysport headlight on the YZ uses what appears to be a BA20D headlight bulb, much like many Chinabikes.
I need to operate it off a small battery and need a muchh lower electrical draw. I'd like to go with an LED replacement. Although there are some in China (suppliers that only ship by the zillion units) I can't find anything on line. Does anyone have a lead or an idea? Is there a cross refrence of some sort to another bulb? It does not need to be exact or very bright, just legal and low draw. Thanks.

I could be way off but try to look up what a 2007 te450 uses for a headlamp.
Or look on rockmtnatv. I think I saw one in their mag that looked similar to the ole gy shape.

I don't understand. :? Are you looking for a new, LED headlight, or do you seek an LED light housed within a BA20D connector? :?:

My Polysport headlight assembly uses what looks like a usual incadescent BA20D bulb.
Since I need to operate it off a 1,000mA rechargeable battery I need an LED bulb of some sort with a much lower current draw than the 35/35 watt BA20D. I was looking for a LED BA20D bulb to put in the existing socket but can't find one for sale in the US. My current plan, which may be temporary, is to adapt an 1157 socket with a commonly available 1157 LED bulb in the Polysport headlight assembly. It won't be as good as Plan A but it will be a light. I'm only trying to satisfy the law to have a headlight. I have no intention of using it at night so most anything will be OK.

I think I have it figured.
I will adapt the housing to accept this bulb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pcs-H4-127...e2af9a&vxp=mtr Do you think this will be too much draw for the little battery?

Do motorcycle headlights have to be on all the time like here in Canada? If they don't, and you only need a working headlight to pass inspection, can't you just keep the stock Polisport headlight and then keep it shut off the rest of the time? I love the idea of an LED replacement but I'm wondering if the one you linked to with 127 led's in it wouldn't use more power than a regular lamp? I'm not really qualified to answer though, because I know nothing about electricity, I'm just thinking that's a lot of led's!

T headlight needs to be on all the time on the road here in the US. Since I don't plan to ride it at noght how bright it is does not really matter but I'd like the visibility.
The 1157 bulbs I have only use about 9 LEDs. I don't know either!

Well the bulb on the link tells you nothing as to draw/amps used.
It should be less than a regular 35w bulb at the least. |

LEDs use very little electricity, Doc. I think you have an excellent idea to convert to an 1157 LED bulb. I think the LED bulb you are considering will work fine. However, should it draw too much current, you can always substitute a less expensive bulb with fewer LEDs.

I may just go with the 1157 conversion then. It's more of a 'marker light' anyways. I wont need it to light the road per se.
Plus Since it has 2 'filaments' I can use it as a low and high beam, or in this case very low and extremely low.

I would have liked a BA20D LED conversion as a drop in replacement but I can't find one.

I bought a couple 1157 LED bulbs and a socket. Maybe I'll just stick with that. I'll see if it will be easy or difficult to modify.
