17 Tooth sprocket

Hey new here. I just bought a 2021 Tbr7. I am doing all the upgrades listed on here and on YouTube. (Mo power baby). Anyway bought the 17 tooth sprocket out it on with ease, but when I try to put the sprocket cover back on it doesn’t fit. Do I have to cut the back side of the cover? I’ve never seen anyone talk about it on here. The sprocket has 428-17 T stamped on it and my chain is a 428 and rear sprocket as well

yep the 17t swap does not always play nice on some sprocket covers "various brands" So if you want to still use the cover you will have to shave/cut clearances.

Been talked about quite a bit on here. It's not an unusual issue. I simply trimmed.off the offending area, which is just a small bit on the inner part of the cover. You should see witness marks from the area the chain contacts.

Shave/cut it? Isn't it metal? Do you just hit it with a grinder or something?

I got lucky. My 2021 took the 17 tooth sprocket with no problem.

What size sprocket's on the back. I got a new TBR7 in October with15/46 on it. I'm trying to upgrade to 17/47 but the 126 link chain won't let me. Can anyone suggest a good solid 428 130 chain?

I got this one. I figure if JT Sprockets likes it, it's gonna be good.

Lol.
Thanks for the response TominMO.
Is JT Sprocket really the name of some dude. No way! I hope not because that's what I'm changing my name to. I'll be so popular. I can't wait! Maybe I'll just rename my son that. I kind of owe him one.
I ended up ordering this one from the Motocheese link:

https://www.amazon.com/NICHE-X-Ring-...s%2C234&sr=8-3

Seems like everyone's saying to stay away from O rings and this is x ring?? I know the one I ordered cost too much. Do you or does anyone know if I'd be just as well off with the one you got in a 130 (coming from 126)?
Again, thank you TominMO

X-ring chains are more expensive, but they are lower friction than the o-ring chains and last longer than the rest. I’m sure there will be someone more experienced on here that can attest to their own experience, but with the low power we have to work with, I think any advantage we can get is worth a little more money.

What are y'all "shave cutting" it with? Some kind of router drill bit?

I just put that same chain on my Storm. The chain I took off was the original, and it was trash.

Thanks MT, didn't know that. I just went by price, brand name and tensile strength.
