Spicing up job titles

Job titles seem to be getting inflated a lot lately, to make them sound more important perhaps?

A common addition is the word technician.. Now you don't have a flag person, you have a lane closure technician. Instead of a landscaper, a landscaping technician.

I don't think there's really any harm in it, or really any gain, it just seems kind of silly... Anyways just a ramble...

The term "associate" instead of employee.

A company I used to work for hired a person with the title VP of Continual Improvement. Come to find out, the owner was selling the company and just insured a friend of 5 years employment. He was gone after exactly 5 years without doing angthing.

I'm irritated by the opposite in my profession.

Instead of being called a 'doctor' or 'physician' by the govenment or health insurance companies they want to call me a 'provider' or some such nonsense. It's not like I worked half my life and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in earning the title 'doctor' is it? Oh YEAH, it is!

I work for the government. Don't get me started on expensive, useless people with impressive titles. :x

That's awesome!

Like my Grandpa says, "Chasing the ball is the dog's job." He has no use for golf.

My job title, which I didn't ask for, is Technical Support Supervisor. I usually translate it as Head Wrench.

When I was but a wee lad I had an aunt that taught me to play golf. Then I discovered sex, and drugs, and rock-n-roll, golf did not stand a chance. That was 45 years ago now, and even retired, I do not have time, in 4 hour chunks, to waste on golf.
