Question about front sprocket cover bolt
I was tightening the bolts and stripped 1. Will I be able to retap the hole? Or am I SOL?

helicoil is your best option, but, you could also fill the hole with JB Weld, drill, and then tap.

Will it still snug up at all? If so just blue Loctite it in there at the snug point. It will hold. Even if it won't get snug lots of cool tricks to get it to snug up. Take some fine copper strands from a piece of junk wire and stick length wise in the hole then stick your bolt in and tighten. Another thing you can try is take your existing bolt to ACE Hardware or any good hardware store and get another bolt a 1/4 or 1/2 inch longer. Usually still some good threads deeper down in the hole.

don't drill the hole just run the tap straight in... & you will need a 1/4" UNC bolt.... 1/4" is .4 of a millimeter bigger than 6mm.... If yer want a fine thread go 1/4" UNF... ..

Lower bolt? 2 out of my 4 CG engines have done that. Not many threads for the original bolt to grip onto in there. Many of ways to repair it. I replaced it with a stud that screws in past the damaged threads into the good ones the bolt didn't reach. Put a little locktite on it and it's been working fine for years. I use a nylock nut so it doesn't have to be real tight in order to not back off. Figured if the stud eventually pulled out I'd go the Helicoil route.

Epoxy a stud in. If there's still some decent thread loctite and a stud should work too.
