2000 YZ426 buy or not to buy?

one of my buddies from work has a race ready
2000 YZ426F 4stroke for sale
full race suspension, fmf pipe hotcam
and it runs and drives like a top!
i can bring the front tire up in all five gears
hes also a master mechanic, and it shows when you drive the bike
is this a good model?
price is 1500, needs nothing seat and plastics are perfect
has very low hours and killer compression

i would want to make it street legal sometime in the future
what do yall think?
thanks
luke

If I could spare the cash, I'd jump on it. A similar bike in my area would be double that amount.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, Luke.

so i went ahead and bought it guys!!!
thanks for all the input!
i was thinking a nice street legal kit from baja designs
might do the trick! and a trip to the registration office!!
it def needs to be geared alittle less trail! and alittle more tame
i found bigger gas tanks as well as aux ones for the rear,
in TEXAS, dirt bikes require a headlight taillight and DOT tires for street
use, so i think im gonna go for it!!! i am worried about the Stator having enough ummmmph to power the lights?
what do yall think? is a upgraded stator easy to install?
i will post pics of my next riding adventures for the "HEMI" as my dad has so cleverly named it,,"must be a 60s thing',,
thanks
luke

I'm afraid I can't answer your stator question, Luke. However, I encourage you to check out the products at the Ricky Stator website.

Wow, that's a good buy Luke. I hope you have many happy miles on it.

Maybe a dual sport-specific forum could answer your questions better about stator specs. Those will be the guys that have done such a conversion.

That bike was a great buy, and its a VERY high performance machine! Enjoy and try to be safe!

Is it hard to plate a dirt bike in TX?
