116 mpg?

Filled up after 1st "tankful" of my Tao Motor TBR7 read about 1/4 tank, but it it took only 0.90 gallons, after traveling 104 miles (speedo is in MPH only so I assume odo, trip meter is in miles, not km). This works out to 116 MPG!!!

Fuel gauge is basically useless, if it reads 1/4 tank when it is more like 3/4, so I will go by miles on trip meter.

The CG motor is known for sipping gas!....but all the speedo's are also known to be off anywhere from 5 to 10 mph, spinning the odo faster than it should.
Try using your cell phone to verify your speedo, then recalc.

I watched a video online with someone doing top speed of their 2021 TBR7 after jetting, with their phone mounted to handlebar, and he got it to 75 MPH, and it read exactly that on both the bike's speedo, and his phone. I assume mine is accurate too.

I wouldn't assume anything. Verify for yourself. Even the EFI CG engines would be hard pressed to achieve over 100mpg on a dual sport bike. For most carbed bikes, getting 80mpg is the high end of things, with more off road geared bikes generally coming in with high 50- mid 60mpg being the more realistic average, My all time best was 74 on a well tuned Hawk with an exhaust, street friendly tires, and more street oriented gearing.

Stock ODO is km. Speedometer is just a sticker that says MPH.

Given your information I'm calculating about 72 MPG.

Still not bad.

You may have a crappy sending unit. My Lifan fuel gauge was really inaccurate and jumping between readings at times. After reseating connections, etc. with no resolve, I reached out to the dealer and got a new sending unit under warranty. It is much better now.

Additional thought: I saw a guy with one of these TaoTao’s on YouTube that did not have a bad sending unit, but just stated that the gauge was really inaccurate. He resolved his situation by getting a sending unit from CSC that had a longer arm and better sweep. Supposedly the CSC TT250 is a more refined version of the same bike (not my words).

Yes, it is in km., and I got 72 MPG. I had the same problem with a 900cc 3 cyl diesel Smart car I imported from Canada. I ended up up changing speedo background to miles, and had it reprogrammed to miles.

Whenever I sell it the bike, I will have to explain it has far fewer miles.

My tbr7 speedometer read MPH (well pretty close-lol) but the odometer seemed to count by Kilometers. My digital one reads MPH allot more accurately and the odometer seems to register miles.

This was my very 1st tankful at 72 MPG, so after it is broken in, it should be phenomenal.
