Greetings from middle TN
So look what I picked up tonight! $200.00, clear title, 1,200 miles and has spark!
Apparently they just parked it and let it sit for a year or so. Missing most of the plastics, rear brake and gear selector bent, choke and throttle cable need replacing, have a lot of disconnected/unplugged wires (not cut) that I'm trying to figure out. First had to strip it down and clean it off, it was pretty nasty But it cleaned up pretty nice, finish on the motor looks great and I haven't even gotten all OCD on it yet. So we are having a ball with this thing, I'll be bugging you guys with questions, I'll try to search first, I've had bikes before but this is my first DS let alone Chinese machine so I know they have their quirks. So glad to be here and can't wait to get this thing on the road! |

Great purchace, welcome to the forum, and you get extra credit for opening a first thread with pics!
$200 is awesome. Especially since should be easy to get running well. Battery, some wiring, carb clean, oil change and push the button. Plastics should be easy enough to find on eBay or similar. Glad to see you are having so much fun; that's a big part of being a China Rider.

LOL I just noticed looks like you got creative on getting it home. Just a hair too big for your hitch carrier.

Is it? Cool, I know nothing about these bikes except what I've read in the last few days. Maybe someone could enlighten me or point me to some reading but are the all basically the same bikes just different cosmetics? Kazuma, Zong, Hawk, etc??

Yeah it got pretty touch and go for a while and there was no way I wasn't leaving with it. The lady and son I bought it from were so cool but then it started pouring, I had my kids with me, tie downs got soaked and hard to work and the damn thing was just inches too long. Then I saw this pile of stuff and that cinder block called me. Got her strapped down, hit the highway and my son kept an eye on it as we boogied home. Poured the whole way home which was great because the thing was so filthy.

Okay guys I'm going to open a thread in the Dual Sport section where I keep you apprised of my progress with "Swamp Thing". We don't call it that because of the plastic but rather the layers of mold/moss we had to scrub off it.
See you later

Welcome!
Sweet bike! You lucked out with the CB motor, massive rack, plastic tank and inverted forks. I have a similar plastic tank on my Lifan, and I decided to just ditch the tank covers and run the naked tank. You might have some issue with the battery box; take the time to ensure that it is secure.

Good point, Weld.
I'll add to reinforce the muffler attachment. If you have the tires off replace the tubes.
