New vs Old hawk

Local dealers sell the Hawk 250 on craigslist at two different list prices. "Old" Hawks list around $1600. "New" model Hawks list around $2000.
The old and new Hawks look identical. Any known advantages to the newer, more expensive Hawks?

I think the newer ones have black wheels, not sure of any other differences? Perhaps they have the carb jetting proper on the new ones, most I'm aware of were extremely lean as delivered and required re jetting, or a replacement carb and re jetting.

only $1385 less $50 or $1335 shipped here...$1600 - $2000 too much IMO...

These guys are reputable and would likely price match

This is a great deal, 2 hawks $2400 shipped wow

The 2016 Hawks require additional assembly, at least it did in my case. The rear lights, subframe area are bare frame in the box. My was built in July 2016.

You should search out Adam Renkleff--he posts here on chinariders and is also the dealer rep for RPS, the US distributors for the Hawk. I remember one thing that might be different has something to do with a skid plate or lack of skid plate. I believe the 2015 model, if it doesn't have a stock skid plate, still has the bolt holes like it should. I remember Adam posting something about if one uses too long of bolts, you can go right through the engine case with the bolts, destroying the engine. Find the thread from Renkleff--"RPS Hawk, ask me anything" or something like that.

Mine came with the rear assembly on the bike. That what my engine looks like and you can't see the Sharpie 'paint' with normal eyes. I'm replacing the clutch cable with a longer one and that is why it looks out place. Mine also came with a clamp for the stock exhaust.

On my July 2016 the covers have the slotted 'use a quarter to take off' groove rather than the hex key.

I ordered mine on07-05-16 from APSCUSA. They were out of black, which is what I wanted, so I waited.... And waited for a shipment to come in. Was notified on 07-20-16 that the container was in customs. It took almost an entire month to clear, but I received the bike on 08-26-16. The MCO lists the bike as a 2016 and the motor placard has the assembly date of 07-2016. I watched the assembly videos from RPS prior to uncrating and there was no difference in assembly. So far as I can tell the only difference is in the wheels being painted black. Also the speedo is holding (kind of ) fairly close to the correct mph, but the odo is calibrated in kph, so you have to divide by 1.6 to get true mileage.

Am I the only one that got the hex bolts? Nothing wrong with them, I was just wondering.

I'm still waiting on my MCO, and I'm beginning to wonder if I received damaged stock and thats why the rear of my bike was disassembled. I'm happy with my bike, but I would have preferred to have known and had a discount.

FWIW, I have found it easier to multiply by .6, which is close enough. Much easier to multiply in my head, while going down the road, than it is to divide.

I multiply by 5/8 in my head, but it's hard to deal with remainders

No, it isn't damaged. The new ones coming in require some additional assembly on the rear. We have contacted the factory and told them to do this in China.
