Before I got my big "bulldozer" Honda Rincon, I rode a Polaris sport quad, and the chain tension depended on the weight on the seat, so when there was "negative" weight there, the chain was rather loose, and would tighten up considerably when I touched down.
It never came off, but I was always sensitive to tension (at rest) and chain wear. Chain popping when you do do-nuts sounds like lateral movement causes mis-alignment, so you might want to look in that direction.

Hey Mr. Dog! How's Stuff?
Mr. Capone: I'm not sure if you're riding the blasters ona China Built *BUT* if it's a chine built I've found on my machines the rear swing arm bushings are a real quick wear item. This makes the rear axle flop around left to right, and the chain comes off a lot, when doing donuts etc. They especially seem to wear out quik if you like doing dounts, etc. (Like me.) On my 200 I ended up replacing the bushings with bearings. 2 bearings per buishing, SKF part number 6001RS. So dar with about 100 hours on them, they're doing fine. --Vince

well i did'nt want to get into details on mine but ok,,,,
yes i'm aware of the bushings waring out or,,,,, or not even been assembled in the rear diff at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one fine day, no not a song either, as i was getting some air , on my 300 preditor china brand name quad. and what happened next was a failure on my part not to replace worn out straight from the factory bushings, other words none complient state of the art tech-knowledgy, failed and i did not replace them,,,,,,,,, oh yeh back to air as i normaly jump i did not do that this last and final jump of the day, it came apperent to me that i had gained abit more air than normal,, well to late to change the sittuation. landing was harder and stopping was quicker. i had snaped the rear axle inside the diff, chain popped off bineded oround the axle and the forword sproket. well you get the point.... so replace bushings when seeing play in the rear axle ,,,,,, DD |
